BA (Hons) Fashion Management student, Emmy Carter, receives the Oasis prize

After BA (Hons) Fashion Management students presented their dissertations to leading retailer, Oasis, earlier this month, the winning student was announced at the Business and Management School Show last night.

The winner is Emmy Carter whose dissertation, entitled ‘Mass Luxury’, focused on the topic of collaborations between luxury brands and high street retailers, such as Versace’s collaboration with H&M.

Emmy explained what made her dissertation stand out:

“I think the judges liked it because it was contemporary and I made my presentation in a different way – using an app to create a full audio, visual experience.”

She also explained her take on the future of luxury-high street collaborations:

“I argued that as a management strategy it has a limited future, looking at it from the luxury side. There are other things that luxury brands could be doing to be more effective.”

Emmy received a prize of £500 from the Oasis judge at the award ceremony, which preceded the FdA Fashion Design and Marketing catwalk show.

She described her feelings at having found out she had won:

“I was totally shocked when I found out I’d won, just overwhelmed. I put in so much work so it’s nice to feel that my hard work has been valued.”

Emmy leaves LCF with an exciting professional future already in hand as she has started a role as a Buying and Merchandising assistant this week.
